After being formally charged, the 'Empire' star has turned himself into police.
The actor was formally charged with a felony yesterday for filing a false police report in connection to the alleged "hate crime" that occurred January 29. A Chicago PD spokesman told the Associated Press that he turned himself in Thursday morning.
Smollett is set to appear in court on Thursday afternoon.
